When does Joy Meet?
We meet Wednesday mornings from mid-September through mid-May.
Wednesday Morning Schedule
Our day begins at 10:00am in the sanctuary of Faith Evangelical Free church. After opening in prayer, we join together in a few songs of praise and worship and then listen to a short talk by one of our speakers on the week’s Bible lesson. We then take a break to pick up a cup of tea or coffee along with a snack to take with us into our Core Group meetings, around 10:45am, where we discuss the week’s lesson. We aim to wrap up the group time by 12:00pm.
What are Core Groups?
In order to facilitate good discussion of the lesson we divide into several small groups called Core Groups. Each group has around 12 women. The Core Groups remain the same for the year so friendships can develop, and the group becomes a comfortable place to ask questions and pray for each other. Confidentiality is respected within each group.
The groups are facilitated by Core Leaders who are experienced in inter-denominational Bible studies and have a heart for encouraging women in their groups to grow spiritually. Our Core Leaders are not counsellors and not necessarily Bible experts but are there to encourage the group to discuss what we learn from God’s Word and how we can apply it to our everyday lives.
During our core group time, we discuss our answers to that week’s lesson. Women are encouraged to have answered the questions in the study guide at home beforehand in order to contribute to the discussion as well as to get the most benefit from it. We conclude our Core Group time with an opportunity to share personal prayer requests with the members of the group.
